What if we invited you to listen to intimate works by the great Johann Sebastian Bach in the open air? For this concert, Pallade Musica will interpret the trio sonatas of the master in arrangements for violin, recorder and harpsichord, with an apéritif of Preludes for solo cello. Salon Bach will transport you to the intimate setting in which these works were first heard. Composed in Leipzig and Köthen between 1718 and 1730, these pieces are instrumental masterpieces, performed here by early music specialists who are in great demand on the Canadian and international scene.
BIOGRAPHY
Pallade Musica (Athena’s Music) brings together some of the most promising Early Music performers. Co-directed by Vincent Lauzer, recorder, and Tanya LaPerrière, violin, the ensemble is acclaimed for its expressive and elegant interpretations, dedicated to research and continuous exploration. Pallade Musica’s performances are acclaimed for their expressive and elegant interpretations, earning praise for their “spectacular virtuosity” (Tom Strini Blog) and “tremendous ensemble sense” (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel). Pallade Musica won prizes at the 2012 Early Music America Baroque Performance Competition in New York and in the 2014 International Van Wassenaer Competition in Utrecht. In addition to performing in Montreal, Pallade Musica toured in all United States, Colombia, and Canada. The members of Pallade Musica regularly appear with leading early music ensembles all over the world, while also pursuing careers as soloists and teachers. In 2014, Pallade Musica released Verso Venezia, featuring music of Castello, Legrenzi, and Merula, its first CD on the ATMA label. The group’s second CD, Schiefferlein Trio Sonatas, was released November 2017. Both CDs were nominated for the Opus Prize. The ensemble received many nominations for the Opus Awards for the concerts of its Montreal season.
