Nadia Labrie

Flute Passion

After visiting the works of Schubert, Bach and Mozart in the “Flûte passion” series, flutist Nadia Labrie presents the new project in this series: Claude Bolling. For this premiere of a brand new concert, she is surrounded by Emie R. Roussel on piano, Nicolas Bédard on bass and Dominic Cloutier on drums. This musical proposal by Nadia Labrie brings to the forefront mythical compositions, recorded in 1975 by Claude Bolling and Jean-Pierre Rampal. A magnificent marriage between classical flute and jazz piano trio!

Nadia Labrie received the Premier Prix with great distinction from the Conservatoire de musique du Québec and a Master’s degree from the Université de Montréal. She has been a soloist with orchestra on several occasions, performing Mozart, Devienne, Patrick Roux (Canadian commission), Borne, as well as her adaptation of Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Montreal Classical Orchestra, Arion Baroque Orchestra, the Kamloops Symphony (B.C.) and the Orchestre symphonique de l’Estuaire. For two years, Nadia was principal flute of the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra with whom she toured America, Europe and Asia, under the direction of such great conductors as Kurt Masur, Yoav Talmi and Franz-Paul Decker.

Nadia is a member of the duo Similia with her twin sister Annie Labrie. They have recorded four albums (of which Nota del Sol won a Félix at the ADISQ) and have been cited as “the best flute and guitar duo” by the UK’s Classical Guitar magazine. The Similia duo has gained international recognition with nearly 500 concerts in 13 countries, including Japan, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Bosnia-Herzegovina, France, Mexico, Guatemala, the United States and Canada.
In 2018, Nadia released the first album in the Flute passion series: Schubert. In 2020 and 2021, she released Flûte passion: Bach, followed by Flûte passion: Mozart, which was nominated for Classical Album of the Year at the 2021 ADISQ Gala. Three albums that bring together different artistic collaborators to discover the flute repertoire.
