The Taiko (or Japanese drum) is rooted in the folk tradition of Japan. It was used to mark out villages, to chase away evil spirits, for ceremonies or even to liven up festivals.

The group was founded in 1983 under the aegis of the Japanese-Canadian Cultural Center of Montreal, to preserve and promote Japanese culture.

Their philosophy is based on 3 fundamental values: appreciation, consideration and respect.
